  • Pre-marriage counseling
  • Pre-family counseling
  • Divorce decision-making
  • Reconnecting
  • Sexual life concerns
  • Conflict resolution
  • Change in life circumstance's
  • Occasional "Tune ups" to ensure ongoing positive relationship engagement with your partner

What to Expect

The Gottman Method of Couples Therapy follows three distinct phases.

Introductory Sessions

The start of therapy will involve 3 introductory sessions which serve as a way to assess past relationship history and milestones and understand the current state of the relationship.

Session 1: First session will be a joint session (90 mins)

Session 2: Each partner will do an individual session (60 mins each)

Session 3: Final joint session to  receive assessment feedback and discuss the goals of therapy. (90 mins)

Pre-work (30-60 mins)

Therapy

Therapeutic sessions will involve a discussion of presenting issues and interventions in line with areas for growth.

Each session: 50 mins

Progress Monitoring

Regularly discussing your feelings about progress towards your goals helps identify what is working and what may need adjustment. As therapy evolves, goals may need to be modified based on your experiences, changing circumstances, or new insights. Evaluating the effectiveness of sessions can help determine if the current approach meets your needs or if alternative strategies should be considered.

Most couples will require 6-12 months of ongoing therapy to see lasting efficacy.  Check ins at determined intervals are recommended after therapy has been completed.
